Byaruhanga Bahemuka is a 7-year-old boy currently studying at Bishop Magambo Primary School in Fort Portal District. Despite his young age, Bahemuka's life is marked by deep hardship. His mother struggles with alcohol addiction, and his father has abandoned the family. As a result, Bahemuka and his siblings are being cared for by their 20-year-old brother, who has taken on the immense responsibility of providing for the family.

Bahemuka's brother works tirelessly, taking on casual labor jobs such as guarding maize fields, weeding, planting, and carrying heavy loads. However, these jobs pay very little, making it extremely difficult to meet the family's basic needs, let alone cover the costs of education. Due to these financial constraints, Bahemuka was unable to attend school in Term 2.

The total cost of Bahemuka's education, including tuition and essential school supplies, is UGX 500,000 (approximately USD 138) per term. For a full year, this amounts to UGX 1,500,000 (approximately USD 414). This is a significant burden for his brother, who is already struggling to provide for the family.
